Time spent with family in Normandy. ;-)

Hello!

We left Madrid 4 days after coming back from our US trip and took Chloe’ to her grandma’s i IFS, Normandy, for Christmas.
It was fun and great to have dinner and lunch with my sibblings and nieces/nephew.

My parents are visiting us in Madrid, so I finally got my hands on some digital pictures of our wedding. See them as yet another of my Facebook albums, if you are on Facebook too
(or just click HERE)

Our wedding in Chateau de Bellefontaine, in Bayeux, heart of sunny Normandy!

Apparemment, en Janvier, je serai Americain (à partir du 4 Decembre, en fait) et selon un email d’hier, employe’ chez Xiti… Pouf pouf! Si je me simpsonise, ca donne:

So here we are, planning for our trip to the USA as a family and Amex Travel informs us we needed a paper ticket for Chloé (and that her “seat” will be a 10% fare, by the way -glad the 3rd agent told us that. First two seemed to ignore the fact that for ALL international travel a paying ticket is needed for infants, though it’s free inside the USA.)

So slight panic: will they be able to deliver the ticket -issued in the USA, of course- in time for next week? The agent had assured 2 days ago us he could have the ticket delivered today, Thursday – Thanksgiving Day. Riiight.

Oh well: the doorbell rang an hour ago and a messenger was here with a UPS envelope for Chloé Guerrand. Considering how that little girl is having her mail delivered (see this link, Chloe’s address needs to be special, it seems!), I will have to have a talk with her. Yes we call her princess and all, but no she cannot consider home a hotel and have concierge service expected for all her mail.

Now the cool photo of her first airplane ticket.
Business class, please. That girl is spoiled… Chloe’s first airplane ticket… Business, no less!

So excited, her hair flared up this morning: Woody Woodpecker, you say?

Aujourd’hui, Lundi 19 Novembre, c’est le moisiversaire de Chloé et elle est déjà très fatiguée !

In short: today is a holiday and WE DIDN’T KNOW!

So early this morning (like 8AM when Chloe’ woke up), we got all in gear to get her fed, changed, prettied up with nice clothes (parents ego boost) and ready to go to the French Consulate, near Plaza Colon.

As we got out of the building, a cold wind of solitude blew on us… All was silent and the bar across from us, La Puerta del Escudo, was closed. As all the other stores in the street… (It was almost as if Ennio Morricone’s music was playing in the background ).

So, wisely, we got back up and checked the holiday calendar on the embassy, to start with… SURE ENOUGH: Nov. 9, Dia de la Almudena. Yet another religious holiday for Madrid only, which means NO ONE will work today, including the foreign diplomats who never seems to miss a local holiday. :)

No passport today Mommy, right?

So here, we are, postponing to Monday to get Chloé first French passport.

To ensure Chloé will be able to eat well and follow a good food philosophy, I got her Alice Waters’ latest book: THE ART OF SIMPLE FOOD, Notes, Lessons, and Recipes from a Delicious Revolution

And since Alice Waters was signing up copies at Books Inc, in Stanford today, I did get a personalized, autographed copy for my little girl!

Of course, I will use the book to make sure the content is useful, in the meantime: I figured I could pass it on to her keep by age 6… if I do a good job initiating her to good eats early on.

Bon appetit!

I passed my interview for naturalization this morning, in San Francisco (7:30AM!). 100% on the civic/history of US test and 100% on the English test (“Read te sentence: the man is looking for a job“). How did they know I was looking for a job, is beyond comprehension. Probably the Carnivore program… :)

This is the good part. The not so good is that I cannot get a ceremony date soon, so I will be goign back to Madrid to spend the next few weeks with my girls(*) and fly back either for a Dec 4 or Dec 18 ceremony date. If it’s the 18th, we may come as a family to spend Xmas here too then.

So I will likely leave Monday instead of Nov 22, assuming I can change my ticket to that day. Chloe and Isabel: here I come… Besos a todas!

(*) lastest news: Chloe’ lost her ombilical cord on Monday.
